I apologize for going LD during last nights raid. Since then I have not been able to log back in. I make it as far as the character select screen, hit "enter world" and then nothing happens. I get the black screen with the message "the server is not responding" followed by "you have been disconnected." This is happening on both my computers and two separate accounts. I ran the patcher and nothing seems to help. I can't seem to figure anything out. I thought i would check here before contacting sony. Any ideas?

I should make note that i have a new linksys wireless router. Perhaps that has something to do with it; however, internet etc.. works flawlessly.

thanks

I had that problem the other day, but only on 2 of my chars (1 per account).  They had both LDed trying to zone into an instance...my other chars could log on fine...I wound up logging for the night and using 'go home' the following day.

I was having the same sort of issue myself. It turned out to be a firewall issue and I had open up some ports on my router. The funny part is that I have 2 PCs using wireless and one connects fine but could not connect. It was not until I opened the ports that it connected flawlessly. Not sure it is the same issue for you but thought I would throw it out there.

hopefully you thought of these ideas, but here goes

1) make sure you have done a full file check
2) make sure you have fully installed any new expansions you bought (i had this happen to me with PoR, i just put in the key code and let it patch, not thinking i had to actually install)
3) try to ping drinal.everquest.com  (go to start menu, run, type cmd in the box, when the dos prompt pops up type " ping drinal.everquest.com" )
4) try a trace route of drinal.everquest.com (same as previous except instead of ping drinal.everquest.com its Tracert drinal.everquest.com)

umm, thats about all i can think of
some of these arent too helpful since knowing that one of them is broke wont help ya fix it, but its a start

You should not have to actually install anything...just start the patcher...and the bottom right (next to the 'autoplay' button is another one...click that and a new window pops up...check the box for the expansions you want it to patch (the install automatically checks them...otherwise the ones you have not installed will be unchecked and the patcher will not download the files for those expansions).  After that, hit 'save' or whatever and it will download all of the files for the expansions you just checked.

There's 2 parts to getting an expansion.  One: you have to get the files onto your computer or you cannot visit those zones at all (either install the CD or use patch program to DL them).  Two: you have to activate it on your account.  If you have done step 1, but not 2...you can run other accounts into those zones if those accounts have it activated, but your account cannot visit them.  If you have done step 2, but not 1...you can't visit the zones simply because your computer cannot load the files, but someone else could run your account into those zones (assuming they did step 1).

Thanks for the input. I've narrowed it down to the router seeing as how I had zero problems until i started using this new one.

It is rare, but some people have had routers causing problems with eq.  Look through the member forums (fairly recent, should be on page 1 or 2.   Then you can ask the person what they did.

I ended up having to return the router. I have another problem now concerning the guild lobby--I crash every time i zone in there. I can use the return home to get into game and play but I hate knowing things aren't working properly. Complete file check doesn't help. Anyone else ever have this problem? (atm i'm wired directly to cable modem; this problem arose seemingly over night)

If the Guild Lobby is the only zone you are having problems with, it (that file) may have become corrupted.  Delete that file and then do a repatch.
